“Trick-or-Treat” the famous phrase said by millions of children on the night of October 31st. As Halloween looms near, I found some of the sweetest destinations to visit in celebration of confections nationwide.

What better place to start, then the self proclaimed “Sweetest Place on Earth”, Hershey, Pennsylvania. Milton S. Hershey originally dreamt of this town to be the ideal place to live for his Hershey’s factory employees. Now, this small Pennsylvanian town has evolved into a popular attraction site for the whole family to enjoy a wide variety of activities including a Chocolate Spa, amazing holiday events, and the always amusing Hersheypark.

Whether you prefer to stay at the elegant Hotel Hershey or want to enjoy the evenings outdoors at Hershey Highmeadow Campground, all Hershey resorts enjoy great package advantages to the town’s attractions, including complimentary shuttles.

Wherever you decide to stay, entering Hersheypark is a must! For three weekends in October, Hersheypark In The Dark offers Halloween fun including Hersheypark roller coasters, entertainment, and a Hershey’s Trick-or-Treat Adventure from Chocolate World to Treatville. All activities are included with admission to Hersheypark, as is Creatures Of The Night at ZooAmerica (Hershey’s North American Wildlife Park).

If you miss the Halloween events, Hershey’s Christmas attractions are just a few weeks away. Starting November 14, Hershey, Pennsylvania will host festive attractions for the family, including a drive-thru light show with over 600 light displays though miles of wooded trails, a Christmas Candylane in Hersheypark with an array of village shops, visits to Santa and his reindeer, holiday concerts, and of course, some delicious Hot Chocolate.

With the sweet smells of chocolate pervading through the streets in the forms of gooey triple chocolate cakes, fudge brownies and fresh bars, Hershey, Pennsylvania is the perfect destination for the sweet tooth, the thrill seeker, and even the golf lover in the family.

Want to experience a taste of what the Fall Season has to offer? Head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This city and some of the surrounding towns provide an array of things to do, from taking the kids on a hayride, to visiting historic haunted houses and other spooky sites.

If you are looking for family friendly things to do in Philadelphia, you won’t be disappointed. There are plenty of attractions that cater to children, including the Franklin Institute, and the Philadelphia Zoo, where on October 25th and 26th you can take your kids to “Boo at the Zoo.” For sights to see just outside of the city, head to the popular Linvilla Orchards - here you can sip cider, pick pumpkins, get lost in a maze or go on a moonlit hayride. Other local events in October include the Count’s Halloween Spooktacular at Sesame Place in Langhorn and the Great Pumpkin Carve from October 23-25th at the Barns-Briton House in historic Chadds Ford.

Looking for an attraction that’s sure to leave you breathless? Head to the Eastern State Penitentiary now through November 2nd to participate in Terror Behind the Walls, a haunted nighttime tour of one of the most famous prisons in the United States. The prison was closed in 1970 and has been turned into a popular landmark, especially in the fall. For more historical activities in Philadelphia, be sure to head to Edgar Allen Poe’s house on 7th street to remember his famously haunting tales or visit the Dracula Festival at the Rosenbach Museum and Library.
