Just a short drive from San Diego, Rosarito Beach is Baja California’s Spring Break party destination closest to the border. Only 20 miles south of Tijuana and the U.S. frontier, Rosarito is a short town with a long stretch of beach. Washed with Pacific waves and lined with indoor-outdoor clubs, visitors can play volleyball, swim, take a ride on horseback or soak up the rays while sipping a corona. RealTraveler Mr. V had this to say about his trip to Rosarito:
“We walked the hilly little streets looking for food, beer and tequila. Finally we found a huge place on the beach called “Papas and Beers.” Potatoes and Beer - besides a dog, these are a man’s best friends! What a place… Inside the fort-like structure we found a volleyball paradise with music blaring through amplike speakers and people everywhere. The crowd was mostly college and military, with some scattered diversity here and there. This place was a party.” (…more)

The water is warm at Rosarito Beach, and good for swimming, surfing and bodyboarding. Visitors will swim in the same waters that Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet “drowned” in as featured in the blockbuster film Titantic: Fox Studios has an enormous waterfront studio built in Rosarito, which they also used when shooting Master and Commander and other movies. The studio, called Fox Studios Sur, is open to the public – a movie park called Foxploration guides visitors through the film sets and prop rooms of a real working movie studio.
Aside from the beach and clubs, Rosarito has enough delicious Mexican food to satisfy the hungriest. Lobster is served in abundance along with other local seafood dishes such as fish tacos and ceviche: fresh fish “cooked” with lime. So close to the border and with so much to offer, Rosarito could be a perfect Spring Break vacation.
