lilly pads

From Amazon….what? by freeyurmind

If there are giant lily pads, does that mean there are also giant frogs, I asked myself upon stumbling on Freeyurmind’s incredible picture of the largest lily pads in the world, only found in the Amazon. Freeyurmind has been traveling through Peru, and headed into the jungles of the Amazon in Iquitos, where he found himself dodging wild mosquitoes while hiking through the jungle, listening to the wild sounds of the Amazon, and coming upon a slew of wildlife, like sloths, spider monkeys, bats, and white faced hawks. (No giant frogs, though.)

Check out Freeyurmind’s journal, Amazon…what? for tips on jungle trekking, great photos, and a nice review of a cozy hotel to stay in. Also, visit Iquitos Travel Photos for more delightful images of this wild region.
