From One Sunset-and-a-half by Scossie
If you’d like to experience the many charming qualities of Scotland , you will likely enjoy a visit to Oban, a small town that’s about a three hour train ride from busy Glasgow. Oban has become a favorite destination for travelers to the United Kingdom because of its many grand castles, its lively and stunning waterfront, its beautiful Bay, and its architectural and personal charms. One RealTravel member, Scossie, recently enjoyed strolling the city’s winding roads, buying keepsakes in the charming shops, and taking in some brilliant sunsets.
Enjoy a passage from Scossie’s journal, One Sunset-and-a-half:
“I’m telling you, this town has character. Coming to this place was as new and as fresh as seeing Edinburgh for the first time. There are streets everywhere that take you all kinds of places, I don’t think any of them are straight, and the buildings are classy. There’s an internet cafe called Fancy That, which also has a lot of unusual and weird stuff here to buy…
The place were staying at has this awesome view over the bay. I can watch the ferries come and go and its facing west also; the sunsets here are priceless.” (more…)
Scossie, who is from Australia but is touring the United Kingdom and hopes to relocate to Scotland eventually, has several great recommendations for places to stay, things to do, and restaurants in which to dine, so if you’re planning a trip to Scotland, be sure to check out Scossie’s Travel Page for lots of great stories and reviews.
