Taisteal in Turkey

Taisteal gazed down on this exquisite view of the Tigris River in Istanbul while exploring the ruins of Kalesi above. The Tigris River is 1,150 miles long, rising in the gorgeous mountains of Turkey , and the Kalesi ruins were built as defenses against the Assyrians and archeologists are unearthing their amazing secrets. “The presence of Mosques and graveyards really ring a sense of community to the complex. In the graveyard on top of the hill, a lone local sits among the grass singing his prayers (see photo). The drop into the Tigris is quite spectacular. Houses perched right against the cliff face.” (more…)
