From San Francisco of Germany? by The Journeyers in Hamburg

A trip to Europe can be approached in many ways - plan all of your hotels and destinations ahead of time, plan nothing and go wherever the train/plane/wind will take you, or plan on doing a little bit of both. Whichever way you choose, it’s always nice to have a few destinations in mind. I know when I read emmajoak’s Bruges journal, I was inspired to go there during my trip to Europe earlier this month.

Here are some stories about Europe that may inspire you:

Brent and Ruth - just returned from an almost month long trip to Europe.

The Journeyers - they’re currently traveling around the world and have shared some great stories and recommendations for Europe

Janet - she’s currently traveling through Europe by train. Visit her blog to follow her along.

Peter and the Woolf - they’ve visited many cities in Poland, including one of my new favorites, Warsaw.

PSCJ - exploring Europe right now! They’ve also shared ideas on where to stay.

garbdoubt19 - A family who’s made London their playground

Bom Braga by Petrina

It’s easy to see why so many different types of travelers visit Bom Jesus do Monte, a beautiful cathedral in Braga, Portugal. Pilgrims climb up the many stairs to the Bom Jesus on their knees, while others take the funicular instead. Petrina, a RealTraveler who spent a few weeks traveling through Portugal, shared her observations on this pretty site :

“Bom Jesus do Monte is quite new really, built in 1811 ontop of a hill and surrounded by a pretty forest. It is a very charming setting with a hotel and restaurant around a quaint, cobbled Placa (although I think it would lose its charm very quickly when the tourists swarm over this place like ants in the warmer months). There are spectacular views over Braga and beyond, but its the Escardaria do Bom Jesus that is the true masterpiece.” (more…)
