From River Gorge Tour of Karijini National Park by ScottA
Memorial Day is a great time to get outside with family and friends and enjoy the sunshine and splendor of summertime weather. In this spirit of family outings and outdoor adventure, I’ve decided to spend this week writing about the many extraordinary National Parks that Real Travel members have been exploring all over the world, starting with Karijini National Park in Western Australia.
ScottA shares stories from his trip where with friends he camped in the park, enjoyed a sunset walk around Dales Gorge, went hiking up the park’s majestic red mountains, took refreshing dips in the Fern pools, and saw his first kangaroo.
Here is a snippet about his tour of the park from his journal River Gorge Tour in Karijini National Park:
“On the tour, we first went back to Dales Gorge and wandered down to Fortescue Falls and the Fern Pool (both inside the gorge). The Fern Pool was spectacular, and we had a chance to go for a nice little dip in the cool waters & waterfalls. Next we went to Joffre Falls and Oxer Lookout (overlooking the intersection of 4 gorges), to have a look down over some of the treasures of the park. Again beautiful waterfalls and rivers through gorges of a similar depth to Dales. Finally we went down for a hike into one of the gorges, which led us through a little river and over several rocky steps to see the gorge from the opposite perspective.” (more…)
This summer, when the sun is beckoning you and the travel bug bites, you might find just what you’re looking for amidst the wild beauty of a National Park. If you’re not sure which one you’d like to visit, Real Travel members like ScottA are here to help. Just check out our search results for National Park and find your next adventure!
